Meet Our Doctor

Dr. Whitney Berens

Dr. Whitney Berens, D.M.D., grew up in a military family and she considers Kitsap County home. After graduating from Central Kitsap High School in 1996, Dr. Berens attended Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin. After college, Dr. Berens attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts where she was recognized for her exceptional academic performance with an Award for High Clinical Achievement and the A. Albert Yurkstas Award.



During dental school, Dr. Berens commissioned as an active-duty officer in the United States Air Force. Dr. Berens’ exceptional academic performance during dental school earned her the highly competitive United States Air Force Health Professions Scholarship and the opportunity to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency.


The residency included training from specialists in:

  • Oral Surgery
  • Periodontal Surgery
  • Orthodontics
  • Prosthodontics
  • Pediatric Dentistry
  • Endodontics


She successfully completed the residency at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2005 before reporting to her next duty station at Grand Forks Air Force Base in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Dr. Berens separated from active duty in 2007 while her husband, Mike, was deployed.


Dr. Berens worked part-time in private practice in North Dakota and in Alabama as a result of her husband’s continued military service before she and her family returned to Washington in 2011. Dr. Berens and her husband have three children that keep them very busy with a host of extracurricular activities. As a family, they most enjoy skiing at Crystal Mountain, camping at Washington State Parks and spending time on the seashore.
